Magnificent photographs complement the text in telling the story of the institution, its leaders, and its journal, National Geographic . Bryan also addresses the issue of the National Geographic' s coverage of conflicts and wars, which Howard S. Abramson criticized in his National Geographic: behind America's lens on the world (LJ 3/1/87). Bryan has done an admirable job of presenting such a wealth of material.
